I had some trouble sleeping near the beginning of last night, but at least I was awake when the sirens went off to warn of missiles a little before 11:00 p.m. If I had been asleep, they probably wouldn't even have wakened me. Of course, there was nothing I needed to do, since I was already snug in my bed in the very safest spot in my building (in the middle of the basement). According to the reports today, 4 missiles came our way from Sinai (ISIS claimed responsibility). One was NOT intercepted because it was headed for an open area, but the other 3 were successfully intercepted by Iron Dome (קיפת ברזל -- literally, "iron kippah"). Not long after that, though, I went to sleep and slept well the rest of the night, getting up quite early.
In the morning, I had a nice chat with David in Tel Aviv. Then I took the number 1 bus and got off near the university. From there, I walked over to Holland Park, where I enjoyed nature and the desert. I took several pictures, including today's pic of the way, wildflowers growing where the water flowed briefly after the big rain (a couple of months ago):
After that, I walked into town and did some browsing at Rami Levi and Shufersal (2 very large supermarkets in that area). I only actually bought one item, at Shufersal, a package of whole-wheat pitas. Then I caught the number 6 bus back home.
I had a salad, weenies wrapped in tortillas, and a baked potato (with plenty of butter!) for lunch at home.
The rest of the day, I just relaxed, watching old American sitcoms on TV and playing games.
I walked a total of 5.1 kilometers today.
