I got to bed early last night and slept well. But when I began to wake up, I felt tired and so didn't get out of bed for some time. Finally, I did get up and started out for a medium-length walk. Unfortunately, before I got very far I tripped on a small irregularity in the sidewalk (because I was looking at something else) and fell. I went down fairly easily but all the way to the ground. I skinned my left knee a little but not enough for it to bleed (thankfully!). I also injured my left shoulder, which was quite painful but not really serious. I'll just have to take Optalgin (over-the-counter pain medication) for a few days, probably. The worst part was that I felt angry at myself for not being more careful and also a little scared because falling can be dangerous, and I was reminded once again about how unexpectedly it can strike.
I continued my walk but came back home sooner than I would have otherwise. I did stop by the bakery and buy challah, of course. As I crossed the street toward my gate, I stopped and took today's pic of the day, the view up the street:
After breakfast, I took out the trash and recycling. I didn't do any of the other weekly chores today, however.
I taught 2 units of Berlitz today: 9:00-10:30.
I spent a nice block of time watching 2 episodes each of "Modern Family", "Friends", and "The Big Bang Theory".
I had a carrot, a large salad, a shnitzel, and 3 breadsticks for lunch.
In the afternoon, I spent quite a bit of time working on the 2nd movement of my symphony. I wasn't adding notes; I was fine-tuning expression and balancing parts. I got quite a bit done, but there's still more to do along those lines. Then, I can write the next section, which will be a modified version of the beginning of the movement. This will give it a rough overall ABA form.
As I do virtually ever Friday evening, I lit candles, drank a little sweet red wine, and ate a bit of challah to welcome the Shabbat Queen.
I walked a total of 2.1 kilometers today.
