Friday, 2 January 2015

I woke up early this morning, feeling alert and refreshed, and I walked for over 45 minutes. Then, a little later but still before breakfast, I also walked down to recycle cardboard and buy challah for Shabbat.

I taught only one 2-unit Berlitz lesson today (a student from Italy who has now been living in Ireland for a year): 10:30-12:00.

We had lunch at Il Pentolino today. David had cheese ravioli with mushroom cream sauce, and I had my usual whole-wheat spaghetti with Palermo sauce.

I watched more videos today about programming and development in Swift for iOS (iPhone and iPad).

As the light was beginning to fade, we lit candles, drank wine, and ate challah to welcome another Shabbat.

״שמור״ ו״זכור״ בדנור אחד, השמיענו על המיוחד
יי אחד ושמו אחד, לשם ולתפארת ולתהלה

"Keep" and "Remember" in a single utterance, the only G-d made us hear
The Eternal is one and his name is one, for honor and glory and praise

[the first of 9 stanzas of "L'cha dodi", a traditional part of the Kabbalat Shabbat prayers]
