I woke up very early this morning and got out for a good walk to the gym and a good work-out there. It was chilly enough for me to put up the hood on my hoodie most of the time.
Right after breakfast, David and I took a drive around the short loop, starting by driving up highway 12. On the way back, we stopped at Yotvata to buy a couple more kilos of dates since we're currently on our last kilo.
We had a late lunch at Mike's Place this afternoon. I had nachos, and David had a veggie bean burrito. He also had a Bloody Mary, and I had a White Russian.
After returning from lunch, we talked a bit with David's sister in Ohio. She's back in the hospital, with pneumonia AND a blood infection, so she's not feeling very well, but she'll be okay.
Later in the evening, we drove over to Ice Park for frozen yogurt.
I spent most of the rest of the time during the day working on this week's project for my class, Introduction to Programming for Musicians and Digital Artists. Each time the program is run, it creates a random melody but with a lot of constraints on how it can move up and down so that it doesn't actually sound so random. Then it generates appropriate chords and a bass line to accompany the melody. I had quite a bit of trouble getting it all debugged, but it seems to be working very nicely now. Of course, some of the melodies are better than others, but it's interesting to see what comes out.
