Tuesday, 16 July 2013 - Tisha B'Av

I got up early enough to get in a good walk, a short but effective work-out, and my stretches. I didn't see ANY of my outdoor feline friends along the way today, though.

I taught 10 units of Berlitz lessons today (although the first 2-unit lesson was actually a no-show): 9:00-10:30, 10:30-12:00, 12:00-1:30, 4:00-5:30, and 7:00-8:30.

We ate lunch at home today because I thought that the restaurants would be closed for Tisha B'Av, a big fast day. However, when we went over to Ice Park before my last class, even the kosher restaurants were actually open!

Thirteen years ago, on this day (Tisha B'Av, the 9th of Av) on the Jewish calendar (which actually fell in August of 2000), we bought our house in San Bernardino. Six years later, shortly after we had moved to Israel, and VERY shortly before the real estate crash in the States, we sold that house for about 2.5 times what we had paid for it. The money we made on that lucky investment is STILL helping us! Besides that, it was a very nice house to live in!
