Hmmm, I didn't even realize until sometime today that I had completely forgotten to post anything yesterday. Anyway, there was really nothing amiss: I taught 3 units, we ate at Greg, and, in the evening after making Shabbat, we took a drive around the short loop.
Now for today: I got up very early and took a long walk. I went up highway 12 and crossed over on the bike trail to Nakhal Shakhamon (or at least that's what I call it -- it may not be its real name). I walked down the nakhal to Harim Road and continued home. It was a little chilly part of the way due to the breeze, especially where the bike trail goes through a small pass and the wind was strong.
I've just started a free online course in music production, hoping to learn things that will help me improve the quality of my recordings. The teacher of the class is a young professor at Berklee College of Music named Loudon Stearns, and he's really good. I'm sure a lot of the material won't actually be very relevant to my situation, but some of it surely will be. For example, the first lesson talked a lot about microphones, items which I don't use at all! The course will actually be quite a bit of work, since I'll have the responsibility of assessing assignments done by other class members (and they'll be assessing mine, too, of course). I hope I'll have the time to do it justice.
Late in the morning today we again drove around the short loop, but in the middle of the day (instead of after dark) and in the reverse direction (going out on highway 12). The flowers are now in full bloom. There are a number of different kinds growing in all the low places where water must have passed, however briefly, during the 2 or 3 storms we had. It's especially nice to see since nearly all the species are different from the ones we were familiar with in the North.
We ate lunch at Greg as soon as we got back into town.
David has been having a LOT of trouble walking in recent days because of a rather severe pain in his leg. We don't know exactly what is causing it. It happens mostly when he walks. It may be related to his fall in the bathroom nearly 2 weeks ago, but it seemed to start only several days AFTER the fall. We're going to try to have it checked tomorrow. Anyway, by the time we got home, he was really tired and in pain. It went down a lot after he had sat for a while, though.
We had a nice long conversation with David's sister and her husband in Ohio.
By evening, I had finished watching all the lecture videos of my music production course for this week, learning quite a bit about sound, sound processing, and microphones in particular. Now I have to work on my assignment, which is due by next Friday.
