23 March 2013

I went to sleep quickly last night, but I woke up only a couple of hours later, and I had a lot of trouble getting back to sleep due to the ache in my shoulder, despite having taken 400 mg of ibuprofen before I went to bed. Eventually I did get some more sleep but not really enough.

Today we to the Underwater Observatory Marine Park down by the sea. Mostly, we just walked around looking at various things there and also sat quite a while on 2 or 3 different benches (in the shade) and enjoyed the lovely weather and the parade of people passing by. We did get David a new hat and t-shirt, and we both got new stainless steel rings. David's has a small insert with the Sh'ma prayer engraved on it that turns around. Mine has small engraved gold Stars of David on a brushed metal background with gold-colored tapers on both sides of it.

After that, we went over and ate lunch at Greg café, then came back home.

I watched all the new videos for week 4 of my Introduction to Music Production class. They were just posted last night. This week's topic is dynamic effects, and it is surprisingly complicated. The teacher, as usual, gave very good explanations and demonstrations of the effects. I don't think I'll be using them much, however, in my music, since I'm not using any sounds that I record myself, and the ones I AM using having been very well recorded. Nevertheless, it's quite interesting to see what can be done.

This evening we got some more audiobooks for David, since he had read the ones he already had.

We also went back over to Ice Park, where we ate frozen yogurt and got a new, more protective case for David's iPhone. Sometimes, he puts it on his lap, forgets that it's there, and then gets up some time later, causing the phone to fall. So far, of course, it has been fine, but we're always a little worried, so we figured it might be wise to get a better case for it. You know, an ounce of prevention...
