I went to bed early and tired last night. I fell asleep quickly, slept well, and got up at a good time. Before breakfast, I walked up to the local bakery and bought challah and burekas for Shabbat.
After breakfast, I walked down into town to join a free walking tour of the downtown area, sponsored by the city for tourists, and learn a little about the history of Eilat. I can't say that I learned very much, but I did visit 2 or 3 places I'd never been before, and it was a good way to spend a lovely morning. I think I was the only native English speaker on the tour (which was in English) -- I know that several (maybe even most) of the other people were tourists from Poland, and there was at least one girl from Belgium. I did take a few pic of Eilat from the area that juts out into the sea just west of the bridge, including today's pic of the day:
After the end of the tour I started walking home, but I felt a bit tired, so I stopped and rested and took a bus the rest of the way back. When I got home, I enjoyed another nice conversation with David on the phone.
After lunch, I took a short walk up to the park and spent a little time just basking in the warm sun. It was a beautiful day out today!
As the light of day faded, I lit candles, drank some sweet red wine, and ate a little challah to welcome the last Shabbat of 2016.
In the evening, I talked some more with David.
I walked a total of 7 kilometers today.
