Shabbat, 14 January 2017

I went to bed late last night and got up late this morning, getting the day off to a lazy start.

I made a big mistake during breakfast. I started some rice cooking but forgot about it, leaving the fire on high. It was only when it had boiled dry and was beginning to burn that I smelled it and remembered it. I'm not sure whether my non-stick kettle is ruined or not, but I think it may be. Of course I had to throw out the rice, which I had intended to use with eggs for lunch.

After breakfast, I talked for some time with David on the phone, enjoying a fun chat.

At about 11:15, I left to walk into town. I had heard that there was some kind of happening for Shabbat, sponsored by the municipality, near the mall. Sure enough, there was loud (though mostly recorded) music and LOTS of fun activities for kids. The atmosphere, though, was lively and fun, so I enjoyed it for some time. I also just enjoyed sitting on a chaise in the sun by the beach.

Then I set out walking down the coast as far as the lower end of Nakhal Shakhamon. After taking a few pictures from the beach there, I headed up the nakhal, going all the way up past Harim Road, taking many pictures along the way, including today's pic of the day, a view of Aqaba in the sunlight with the sea in the shadow of a cloud:

When I got back home, I rested a little before preparing a late lunch: salad, 2 fried eggs on bread, and a couple of slices of cheese.

In the early evening, I had my regular chat with Joyce and her husband. A little later, I chatted again with David on the phone.

I walked a total of 7.1 kilometers today.
