After breakfast, though, I walked into town to buy new earbuds for my iPhone since I had somehow managed to lose the ones the came with it during the move. It's nice to really be able to listen to my music again. On the way back, I tried them out but discovered that the pause and volume control buttons don't work. So I'm planning to take them back and complain about that on Sunday.
I did the weekly cleaning tasks today.
I had a salad, weenies wrapped in whole-wheat tortillas, and granola cookies for lunch at home today.
I started a new Coursera course today, offered by the University of Washington, called "Machine Learning Foundations: A Case Study Approach". It's actually the first of a series of courses constituting a specialization on machine learning. I hope, in fact, to complete the entire specialization. So far, it looks very interesting!
In the later afternoon, I went out for another walk, just to enjoy the beautiful day.
As the sunlight was about to fade, I lit candles, drank a bit of sweet red wine, and ate a little challah to welcome the Shabbat queen.
I walked a total of 8.01 kilometers today.
I leave you with this quote from Genesis 2, verse 7:
וייצר יי אלהים את-האדם עפר מן-האדמה ויפח באפיו נשמת חיים ויהי האדם לנפש חיה
And the Eternal God formed the human, dust from the ground, and breathed into his nose a breath of life, and the human became a living being.
[Note: there's a play on words in this verse. The word for "the human" האדם is the same as the word for "the ground" האדמה, except that the former lacks the final letter ה. We are truly children of the earth!]
