Today was a long day. I got up early, ate breakfast very early, and was out of the house and walking to the airport by about 6:40. My flight was scheduled to depart at 8:00, but it ended up getting delayed a little because the plane we were to fly on was delayed in arriving in Eilat.
When I got to Tel Aviv, I used the Gett app to order a taxi to take me to Sourasky Hospital. It cost me a little more than 40 shekels, but the driver got me to the right building. Once I was inside, I managed to locate the oncology department with a little help from some maintenance workers.
I was a good hour early for my appointment, but apparently the doctor wasn't very busy because I got in quite quickly to see him and was all finished by about the time of my appointment.
The oncologist was a young doctor name Yigal Kushnir, and he was good. We spoke in English, and he carefully explained the options and answered my questions. He considers both surgery (radical prostatectomy) and radiation to be good options for me, and he thinks I should choose. So, I'll talk again to my urologist here in Eilat (I made an appointment for the 31st) and perhaps to a few other people, and then I'll decide.
After the appointment, I walked over to a mall that is actually within the same security area as the hospital and is, of course, right next to it. I walked all around inside, and decided to each lunch at a place that had something that interested me. I don't know exactly what to call it. It was kind of like a small thick crust pizza but rolled up on 2 side. It contained hard-boiled eggs, cheese, mushrooms, and spinach, I think, and no tomato sauce. In any case, it was something I had never seen before, and I discovered that it was delicious, as well.
After eating, I walked around the hospital and the mall a bit more before deciding to walk back to the airport. It was VERY hot in Tel Aviv today (a heavy sharav), but there was a fairly strong wind, and it didn't feel too hot in the shade. I realized that I could probably walk most of the way in the shade, and so I did. I took several pictures of nice flowers along the way, which I have already posted on Facebook.
I arrived at the Sde Dov airport in Tel Aviv about an hour before my scheduled departure (which was 4:10), but the flight was again delayed. It was nice and cool in the terminal, though, so I didn't mind waiting. There was also good scenery, if you get my drift. LOL
I took today's pic of the day, a selfie with an interesting supertitle, there in the terminal:
The trip up there had been on a jet, but the return trip was on a turbo prop. I was sitting right under the wings, and I took a number of interesting pictures, including Netanya (I think), the Dead Sea (the Jordanian side), several kibbutzim in the southern Arava, and some shots just before landing (southbound) in Eilat. I posted some of these on Facebook, as well.
We arrived back in Eilat at about 6:00 p.m., so I walked directly over to Fay's house for the weekly meeting of our play-reading group. It was again very enjoyable. Afterwards, David & Bassia and I shared a taxi home because it really was still too hot out for me to be walking that far uphill.
I walked a total of 10.92 kilometers today.
