Tuesday, 18 June 2019 - יום שלישי 18 ביוני 2019

I had intended to get up early and swim in the sea this morning, but I had trouble getting to sleep last night, so I slept in instead.

I packed before going to WIZO, and afterwards I took a bus down into town to pick up my rental car. Then I drove home, picked up my bag, and started my drive through the Negev. I had reserved a room for 2 nights in Ashkelon, since I had never before been in that part of the country, near Gaza.

I traveled by highway 12 and highway 40, but I turned off on highway 232 before I got to Beer Sheva. In fact, I took a short detour just before that to get some pictures of the new solar power station near the Tlalim junction.

Then I continued over to very close to the Gaza border. I went to a rather abandoned viewpoint and took a couple of pictures of Gaza. Then I visited Sderot, the nearby city, before continuing on to Ashkelon. My hotel, the Regina Goren, is just across the street from the beach park, and I have a lovely view of the Mediterranean Sea from my balcony.

I took a walk along the promenade over to the marina and back, bringing my total walking for the day to 8 kilometers.

I'm using my iPad for this post, and I wasn't able to load any pictures, so you'll have to check for them on Facebook a little later.
