The electricity was off this morning when I woke up (I don't think it had been off long, though), and boy was it dark! My phone was right on the stand by the bed, so it was easy to use its built-in "flashlight" function, and I also remembered where I had put a real flashlight, so there was really no serious trouble. Still, it did throw my morning routine off just a bit. It wasn't too long, however, before the electricity came back on, and all was well.
Today at WIZO, one of our members, Sharona, gave a nice presentation on the early history of rock 'n' roll, illustrated with some nice videos. It's not music that I know very well, even though she and I are almost exactly the same age, but it was interesting and enjoyable anyway.
After the meeting, I went to Fonda's apartment to try to fix a problem she's having with sending out e-mail from her Android tablet, but I wasn't successful. It was nice, though, to see where she lives (and her lovely studio apartment). It's not very far from me, either, but she's on the 6th floor with a nice view of the Eilat Mountains.
In the late afternoon, I took a mini-laptop that I have not been using over to David and Bassia's. There laptop isn't working, so they're going to see if this one can work for them. Unfortunately, the Windows XP system on it is entirely in Hebrew, so, although we got it connected to their WiFi network, we still weren't able to surf the internet. They're going to see if they can get an English system installed, and then it should be much easier to fix the problem (if it even still exists!).
On my way back, I stopped at a market over near there and bought Mexican canned beans, natural peanut butter (just peanuts and salt), and some Haas avocados, all of which are difficult to find in most supermarkets.
I taught only one 2-unit Berlitz lesson today: 7:00-8:30.
I walked a total of 6.54 kilometers today.
Where did you find natural peanut butter?
ReplyDeleteAt the Mashal Market on Sheshet HaYamim, a little south of Yerushalayim HaShlema.
