This morning I got the information about my appointment in Tel Aviv and the flights up there and back to the local Maccabi office, and they called me later to let me know that everything is in order.
I taught only 4 units of Berlitz lessons today: 9:30-11:00 and 5:00-6:30.
After my first lesson, I set out on my main walk for the day. My destination was the cemetery, and I plotted the shortest course to walk there. It took just a little over half an hour to get there. Along the way, I picked up a few small rocks of varying colors. It's a Jewish custom to leave stones at a grave you visit as a sign that someone visited, so I left them on David's grave. It wasn't a particularly emotional visit for me -- just something that I had the time and wanted to do.
After resting a bit at the bus stop there, I walked down the road and into town. I stopped to pee at the Maccabi office and to rest a bit near there, then continued down to browse a little at HaMashbir LaTzarkhan ("Consumer Supply", the rather socialist name for the main national department store chain). Then I walked home very leisurely, stopping in several parks to rest, snap a few pictures, and check Gmail and Facebook (there's 4G nearly everywhere).
Arriving home, I had a somewhat late lunch of veggie burger and cheese sandwiches and a large salad with a tomato cut up in it.
In the late afternoon, before my second lesson, I walked up to the outdoor gym, worked out for a while, and walked home via a longer route.
After my final lesson, I worked a bit on my variations on HaTikvah for orchestra. I only made a little progress, but at least I did something on them. I feel like the fugue is petering out a bit, but maybe that will be okay, if I can do it gracefully.
I walked a total of 9.66 kilometers today.
