I slept well last night and woke up early. I had set an alarm, just in case, but was up well before it went off. I immediately ate breakfast and did my basic morning routine. I was out of the house and walking to the airport at about 6:30, arriving there about 7:00. My flight was supposed to leave at 8:00, but it was delayed due to a mechanical problem (at least, I think that's what they said), so we didn't actually leave until around 9:15.
After arriving at the Sde Dov airport (right in Tel Aviv, by the sea, just north of the Yarkon River), I set out walking to a bus stop where I could catch a bus to the Assuta Hospital. I waited there quite a while and eventually ended up taking a different number, which got there by a more circuitous route. Still, I was there plenty early, and immediately headed for a rest room to do the enema I had to do. I don't think I actually did a very good job of it, but it was okay.
The test was a transrectal ultrasound and biopsy. It wasn't very pleasant, but it also wasn't actually painful, either. I waited until they had a letter and a disk of the images ready for me, and then went down and had a vegan sandwich at the Arcaffé restaurant right there in the hospital.
After that, I walked all the way back to the airport. It took me a little more than an hour and a half, but that was only because I stopped and rested several times. The weather in Tel Aviv was perfect today: sunny with a few clouds and a gentle, cool breeze.
My flight back to Eilat, at 5:00, was uneventful and went just as planned. After deplaning, I walked back up to my place.
I walked a total of 13.56 kilometers today, a new record for a single day.
